The exam pattern for the written exam is as follows:-
- The exam will be objective.
- The questionnaire will be 100 questions with 100 points.
- The exam will be 02 hours.
- The language of the questionnaire will be bilingual (English and Hindi).
Rating Marks: Overall, 50% written test scores (out of 100) for the UR/EWS category and 45% scores for the SC/ST/OBC/PwBD categories.

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Commercial Trial Multiple Posts:
- Based on the performance in the Written Test, candidates may be called for the Trade Test in a ratio of 1:5 (for a vacancy, a maximum of five candidates will be called). In case of a tie in the qualifications of the candidates in the written test, all the candidates will be summoned for the Commerce test regardless of the proportion. The ex officio test will be eliminatory. The commercial test will be carried out for all positions, except in the disciplines of human and administrative resources, legal, material management and finance. For Design Assistants, the Trade test will be done in AUTO CAD.
- Qualifying grades on selection test including business test (business test is qualifying in nature only) is 50% for UR/EWS and for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD is 45% based on job reservation .
- Should any ambiguity/dispute arise due to interpretation in non-English versions, the English version shall prevail.
