About IGIMS
The Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, an Institute subject to the Law of the State Legislature (Government), was established on November 19, 1983, as an autonomous organization modeled after the Institute of Medical Sciences of India, New Delhi. It is one of the main health institutions in the state of Bihar. It received the affiliation of the MCI medical school in September 2011. The aim of the University was to provide super specialty medical facilities in Bihar. On January 27, 1983, the Cabinet approved the completion of this massive project in 4 phases in a period of six (6) years. In accordance with the decision of the State Government, 130.20 acres of land were transferred to IGIMS. The college has 100 recognized MBBS seats and the highest number of shallow seats among Bihar colleges. It is recognized to provide a degree of MBBS, MD, MS, M.Ch, DM, DNB, Ph.D., and various paramedical degrees.
